Where Do I Click to Start a New AI Agent in Gumloop?
Home screen, Agents, the plus icon, then four tabs and a Save button. The path I showed live, with what you should see at each step.
From the Gumloop home screen, find agents under home, slide over to the plus icon next to the magnifying glass and click it. That opens the screen where you start building. If the screen offers a workflow too, pick the AI agent.
You've signed in, the home screen is in front of you, and nothing says where an AI agent begins. On October 7, 2026 I walked a live group through the clicks one screen at a time. Labels move around in software like this, so follow the shape of each step more than the exact word. Before I started, I told the group my screen might not match theirs:
From the recording, 8:12. My screen may look a little different from yours.
Where is the plus icon that starts a new AI agent?
The steps, as shown October 7, 2026:
- 01
Go to the home screen. The Gumloop logo is in the top left corner.
- 02
Under home, find agents. Hover over it.
- 03
Slide to the right of the word. A magnifying glass icon comes first, and the plus icon sits next to it.
- 04
Click the plus icon.
You should see a screen that asks what this AI agent should take care of (8:55). The path, in my words:
From the recording, 8:23. To get started, we'll go to the home screen of Gumloop. You should see the Gumloop logo in the top left corner.
From the recording, 8:37. Beneath home, you'll see agents. When you're hovering over agent, if you slide over, there's a magnifying glass icon. It's slightly to the right of the word agent. Next to that is a plus icon. Please click on the plus icon.
From the recording, 9:09. So, this is where we start building our agent.
Do I start an AI agent or a workflow?
An AI agent. In part one of my setup video the entry point looked different: a start button for a new AI agent, with an arrow beside it. I told viewers what to do if the arrow opens a drop-down:
From my setup video. And if you click on the arrow, there's a drop-down box that may say start a workflow. Don't start with a workflow, just start with the agent for the first time.
That's two entry points from two of my own recordings. Read the screen in front of you before you click.
What are the four words on the right?
After I pressed the up arrow, the screen changed and a new set of controls appeared on the right. I counted them out loud at 18:12: agent, triggers, access and settings.
From the recording, 18:17. So there are four words there that are clickable that you can click into.
I clicked into settings, and I asked the group to do the same (18:21 to 18:23). Settings is where the name goes.
How do I name it, and does Save work?
Name the AI agent in the settings section. I also picked an emoji with a color in the icon section, which has nothing to do with function. It's flair when I log into my dashboard (20:33 to 20:41).
Then press save. I showed what happens next:
From the recording, 21:08. Once you do that, you do have to hit the save button.
From the recording, 21:21. What happens here, when we hit save the word, the section grays out, so that confirms that the save has been successful.
You should see the section gray out. I added that some screens move you forward after a save and some keep you where you are (21:12 to 21:21). In my setup video I described the same thing: the area grays out and it doesn't jump screens.
The connectors screen works differently, and I said so when I got there:
From the recording, 31:20. This is one of those screens inside of Gumloop that you actually have to click the save button to exit out of the screen, okay?
Gumloop's documentation lists four tabs at the top of the builder for an AI agent (Agent, Triggers, Access and Settings), says a brand-new AI agent asks what it should take care of, and says nothing saves until you press Save, with an arrow beside it that undoes unsaved changes. Its Agents page also names a Create Agent button, which may be a different entry point from the plus icon I clicked on October 7. Checked on 2026-11-05 against Gumloop's Agents documentation.
On my relationship to Gumloop, I said this:
From the recording, 33:22. I don't work for Gumloop. I found this tool over the summer through Lenny's podcast, and I started using it and have since made myself an ambassador for them. I've created a relationship with Gumloop. I am not an employee.
More on that answer: Do you work for Gumloop? (the answer from the session).
What goes wrong
Starting a workflow when you meant an AI agent. In my setup video the drop-down beside the start button offered a workflow, and I said to start with the AI agent the first time.
Leaving a screen without saving. I said you do have to hit the save button, and that the connectors screen needs it just to close.
Looking for a button that isn't where I clicked. I told the group my screen might look a little different, and my earlier video showed another entry point. Look for the plus icon next to the magnifying glass, then for the prompt about what the AI agent should take care of.
Where this comes from
This article grows from the session I taught live with Women Applying AI on October 7, 2026. The quoted passages are my own words, taken verbatim from the recording and from my published setup video on YouTube. The steps, tables and checklists around them were drafted by my team's AI agents from those words and my published pages, and checked against the recording before publishing. The platform facts that have a public source carry the dated line above, and screens change.
