What Does Edit Own Instructions Mean for an AI Agent?
How Jacqueline V. Twillie explained it live with Women Applying AI on October 7, 2026.
What that does is it allows the agent to learn from your interaction inside of the chat feature.
What she said about it
You'll notice there's something that says edit own instructions with a blue toggle button that is on.
For example, if you click new task that opens another chat inside of this agent, what this blue button does is it allows your agent to learn how you're interacting with it and it automates updates.
I just want to make you aware that if you keep the edit on own instructions on, you want to be able to manage and have oversight into what the agent is updating.
The moment she used it
I just want to reiterate here, put a reminder on your calendar at a frequent cadence to go in and read agent instructions if you give it access to auto update.
Hear the definition at 24:26. She uses the term again at 43:10, and the clip is on the session page.
