How Do I Try Gumloop Free Without a Surprise Charge?
A best practice is go ahead and also put a note in your phone to cancel in 12 days if you're only doing a trial run.
Put a note in your phone for day 12 of the trial. That leaves a few days to see the system, and you cancel two days before the charge would hit. If you are done after the trial, I cancel the subscription first and then delete the account.
Gumloop asks for a card when you sign up, and the session page says nothing charges during the 14 days. So I like to start with this one: put a note in your phone to cancel in 12 days if you're only doing a trial run. I said it at the top of the October 7, 2026 session, right after asking everyone to create the free trial account. The steps for the live build are on the session page.
On my relationship to Gumloop, I said this:
From the recording, 33:22. I don't work for Gumloop. I found this tool over the summer through Lenny's podcast, and I started using it and have since made myself an ambassador for them. I've created a relationship with Gumloop. I am not an employee.
When do you set the reminder?
At the start of the session:
From the recording, 2:46. A best practice is go ahead and also put a note in your phone to cancel in 12 days if you're only doing a trial run. That way you don't get a surprise charge in 14 days.
Later, when a participant asked how to avoid paying for another subscription, I repeated it:
From the recording, 52:54. 12 days from now so that you have a few days to like actually see the system, but cancel it two days before the charge would hit, so you have no issues with that.
Day 12 sits two days before day 14. That is the whole schedule I gave.
How many credits does the trial give?
While I was choosing a model on October 7, 2026, I told the group about the trial credits:
From the recording, 22:48. Right now we're all on a trial account, which gives us 20,000 credits to use.
For what a credit is, see What Are Gumloop Credits?.
How do you cancel before the charge?
In order, the way I put it: set the reminder, cancel the subscription, then delete the account.
From the recording, 53:22. So one, I would actually cancel the subscription and then I would delete the account.
I added that some systems let you delete alone and that takes care of it. I still follow the platform's own steps.
From the recording, 53:34. I would follow their protocol just so the system doesn't miss that you're actually canceling.
The recording does not show the cancel screen, so the button comes from Gumloop's own help page. It says you can cancel a paid plan or the free trial from Manage Subscription on the Usage & Limits page, found under Settings, then Organization. Select Cancel plan and confirm. It also says that cancelling before the trial ends means your card is not charged and you keep access for the rest of the trial. Checked on 2026-11-05 against How do I cancel my plan or free trial?.
What goes wrong
Three things from the session.
No note in your phone. The reminder is my answer to a surprise charge on day 14.
Skipping the platform's own steps. I follow their protocol just so the system doesn't miss that you're canceling (53:34 above).
Not finding the cancel option. A participant said they did not see a cancel subscription option in their settings. I answered:
From the recording, 53:49. I'm definitely not trying to lock you in here.
I said I would walk them through the steps afterward (53:54). What the recording does not show: the cancel button, or those steps.
Where this comes from
This article grows from the session I taught live with Women Applying AI on October 7, 2026. The quoted passages are my own words, taken verbatim from the recording. The steps, tables and checklists around them were drafted by my team's AI agents from those words and my published pages, and checked against the recording before publishing. Platform facts that have a public source carry the dated line above, and screens change.
